Municipal Solid Waste Management and Waste-to-Energy Potential from Rajshahi City Corporation in Bangladesh

Waste management is becoming one of the most challenging tasks for developing countries in order to ensure good human health, as well a healthy environment. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) 12 city corporations Bangladesh. Various environmental and health problems have arisen due lack proper knowledge waste management. Thus, aim this work illustrate present status MSW generation Corporation, Fifty households were selected throughout RCC collection, which represent approximately all types RCC. From qualitative quantitative analysis, it estimated that approximate 358.19 t/d (tons/day) at an rate 0.4214 kg/person/d. Calorific values wastes also been determined using ultimate analysis results MSW. A higher calorific value dry has calculated 14.9 MJ/kg. Moisture content found be 48.28%. It possible power (steam energy electrical power) from generated 159.40 MWh/d. Lastly, future scopes different measures need taken are illustrated. Waste-to-energy (WTE) conversion given priority anaerobic digestion (AD) interesting prospect sector. Techno-economic AD conducted. Energy potential proposed plant 3.85 MW payback period 4.9 years. observed employing on large scale can not only reduce waste, but meet portion demand city.
